IGN have released their review of GTA IV ahead of all other sites who arn’t allowed to publish theirs until 5pm on Sunday. Check out the video review below which shows off non plot spoiling gameplay footage. It gets 10/10 by the way.
With the Internet going GTA IV crazy, even an advert is classed as news! The UK marketing campaign for GTA IV has kicked off with the Xbox 360 branded TV advert showing off lots of new footage including breaking into a car for the first time. In other GTA IV news the Rockstar social club website opens for registrations today so head on over and sign up.
A number of online retailers have created a cut off date of the 7th of April stating that any future GTA IV pre-orders will now no longer be delivered in time for release day. GAME, Gamestation, Gameplay and Play.com all report that they have sold out of their initial launch day allocation. Of course all appart from Play.com in that list are actually the same company, forming part of the GAME group. The problem seems to be more apparent on the PS3 version of the game as Play.com still have the 360 version up for sale with no reference to a lack of release day delivery. Limited editions of the game are still available for pre-order for delivery on launch day.
ButtonBandits suspects the issue will be limited to online retailers with plenty of stock sure to be available at the likes of ASDA, Tesco, Woolworths, Argos etc on the day of release. Basically the non specialist video game retailers. Assuming you get their early enough in the day of course.
The large US games retailer Gamestop has managed to obtain new footage of GTA IV. The content forms part of their advertising campaign for the special edition. The video shows lots of previously unseen footage and is practically a new trailer in it’s own right. Check it out below.
XboxWorld posted up a number of screenshots tonight showing what was claimed to be the first look at GTA IV’s multiplayer mode. The site got hit by a barrage of traffic making it inaccessible for a period of time. When it came back all references to the images had been removed. Unfortunately it was too late as many sites, including ourselves managed to grab the images before they got taken down. Take a look at the new screenshots below:
NOW are you excited?! It’s been a long time coming, but details of GTA 4 highly anticipated multiplayer modes have finally surfaced…
May’s issue of Xbox World 360 (great mag by the way) includes plenty of new information regarding the next installment of Rockstar’s massively successful series. However the information on the games multiplayer modes are the most interesting. The details provided are:
“Cops ‘n’ crooks” Two teams, one consisting of the police, the other of the criminals which includes a ‘Don’ who must be protected. The cops must stop the crooks and take down the Don, whilst the criminals task is to deliver the Don to a drop-off point.
”Hangman’s Noose” A cooperative game in which the players must protect ‘infamous hoodlum Kenny Petrovic’ in a chase across Liberty City, naturally with the LCPD’s finest in hot pursuit…
