Call of Duty 5 details revealed

Published by GiantHaystax under News, PSP, Playstation 3, Wii, Xbox 360

call-of-duty-3-vehicle.jpgThe latest issue of GamesTM has revealed the first concrete details on the next installment in the Call Of Duty franchise. VideoGaming247 report the game will be titled  “Call of Duty: World at War”. The game will be going back to a World War II setting based around the time period of the American battles with Japan and the attack on Pearl Harbor.

The magazine goes on to say that the the Call of Duty 4 game engine will be used despite the game being developed by Treyarch who developed Call Of Duty 3 rather than Infinity Ward who developed Call Of Duty 4. The magazine also reports the game will feature online co-op gameplay as well as use of vehicles and squad based tactics in multiplayer modes. The game is being marketed as “gritty”, with the opening sequence apparently setting the tone for the rest of the game which features “a Japanese commander stubbing a cigarette out in the eye of a prisoner before slitting his throat - the blood splatters and dribbles down the side of the tent you are being held in. He turns towards you to deal out the same treatment but help arrives just in time. Cue a daring level-long escape.”

Call of Duty: World At War is released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii and PSP some time towards the end of this year, most likely in November.

Echocrome released on US PlayStation store

Published by GiantHaystax under News, PSP, Playstation 3

echocrome.jpgEchocrome, the unique “perspective” puzzle game announced at last years E3 has been released on the US PlayStation store priced at $9.99. Sony has no news on when the game is planned to be released in Europe. A demo was also made available recently on the US store which is also yet to make it’s way to Europe. Presumably the delay is translating the game into all the different European languages. For all us English speaking people though the US version will do just fine. If you want the game but don’t want to wait then simply set up a US PlayStation store account and pay for the game using a prepaid American credit card from Entropay.

Manhunt 2 to be released. Receives 18 rating

Published by GiantHaystax under News, PSP, Wii

manhunt2.jpg The news has already been covered everywhere in no time at all. The Video Appeals Committee (VAG) has again ruled 4-3 that Manhunt 2 should get a UK release. All this whole saga will have succeeded in doing is giving the game acres of publicity leading it to end up in the hands of far more people than it would have done had they just let it go through in the first place. The game is supposed to be very average but will now probably be a sales smash. Once the news hits mainstream tv expect Keith Vaz MP to come out with some comments on what he thinks of the matter. While a victory for freedom of expression and creativity in videogames in the short term, the problem could be what happens next. The Government will have to be seen to be acting to control violence in videogames and the whole thing may end up being used as a scapegoat as justification as to why tighter restrictions are needed when the forthcoming Byron review concludes.
