Xbox 360 red ring of death at Play.com live

Published by GiantHaystax at 4:52 pm under News, Play.com live 08

It wasn’t all fun and games at Play.com Live (well 95% of it was). The red ring of death reared it’s ugly head in the over 18’s only area. To be fair it was hotter than the sun in there and all the Xbox 360’s had been encased in plastic bubbles to stop them being “borrowed” by people, so they had little airflow to keep cool. We got a quick video of it before it was whisked away to the emergency room.

95% of the thing was a success, yet all you can do is witch and whine about the 5% part that failed. STFU, you frickin’ mule. Here’s a question, what happened during the other 95%?

“all you can do is witch and whine about the 5% part that failed”. All our other coverage praised the event a hell of a lot. Please listen to the podcast and the other 32 posts about the show all of which are very positive! Thats what happened during the other 95%.

This is about the important issue of the three red rings not play.com live. Note it doesn’t have the play.com live coverage tag at the start of it.

well, it must of been a very hot day, so been that it was encased in a plastic box, I guess it makes sense, but then again why didnt the PS3’s fail?, if they were on the same conditions. I guess there’s just no excuse for S**** hardware.

  14. Frostyon 19 Mar 2008 at 8:40 pm

Good point, the PS3’s were under the same sorts of conditions… esq.

  16. poopskinTheLiaron 20 Mar 2008 at 4:26 am

[..YouTube..] I’m guessing it’s doing that because it’s enclosed by that plastic case, and that gives it no room to ventilate. Thus, the hardware fails due to being unable to get rid of the heat it’s producing.

[..YouTube..] recent review of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six VEGAS 2:
IGN gave the Xbox 360 version an 8.4[16] and the PS3 version an 8.2[17], where the main criticism was that the game was too similar to the first, and citing slight framerate issues on the PS3 version.

Bound to happen. I went to a gaming convention a while back and they had PS3’s freezing because they were encased in the same boxes. Then again they had Assassins Creed running on XBox 360’s when the sony guy was showcasing the game and saying his good it looks in “These Playstation 3 ” examples. The cheek.

The biggest con so far, and do this for yourselves if you don’t believe me……Go into any computer shop and take a look at the back on a PS3 game and then look at the same game on the 360. The majority of PS3’s only run at 720P, whereas the 360’s run at 720P\1080I and chunk run at 1080P. For sony saying they’re TRUE HD and XBox isn’t is the cheek. Who wants to waste money on a product that can’t be consitent..I expect alot better from Sony, but for now the 360 has the better games and online service and Wii had the fun. Sony cannot fit in, except to those who actually think it’s cool to have one. Ok, it plays Blu-Ray , but you can buy the players for £129 , so what exactly do Sony offer other than a cheap knock-off of a games machines (720P) and a Blu Ray player….Or packed into a toaster box.
