• gamestore.jpgUK Retail giant GAME has revealed the results of their poll to find the top 100 video games of all time. Over 100,000 votes were cast with the results throwing up a mixed bag of both timeless classics and modern masterpieces. The results show the current popularity of first person shooters as they take up five of the games in the top ten. Another notable result is Shenmue coming in at number 25 showing that the series is still in many gamers minds despite SEGA’s reluctance to complete the trilogy. Other classics include ICO at a far too low 100, followed by Shadow Of The Colossus in 92nd and Space Invaders original arcade version coming in at number 46. PlayStation 2 takes the console crown having the most games from one individual console in the list. Final Fantasy VII being the most voted for game on the system coming in at number 3.

Some laughable inclusions in the list include Wii Fit coming in a at number 29 and what is widely regarded as being one of the worst versions of Pro Evo (Pro Evo 6) coming in at  number 44. Many more unexpected games appear which are probably explained by this being a mass market opinion rather than a panel of game critics deciding on the final top 100.  The top 10 games of all time as voted for by GAME shoppers are:

1: Call Of Duty 4 (Multi)

2: Zelda Ocarina of time (N64)

    3: Final Fantasy VII (PSOne)

4: Grand Theft Auto 4 (Multi)

Well that’s Game for you. Personally I don’t trust them as whenever I’ve visited a Game store in the past, they’re always keen on trying to sell you something in that kind of “salesman” role. Very annoying.
