We thought it was time to provided another update about the site itself. First off, following the publication of our first four game reviews we are deciding on a new review score system. The new system, while not fully agreed amongst site contributors yet will see the scoring split into individual categories such as presentation and gameplay. The overall score will then be arrived at based on the scores of these sections. We hope this will provide a fair and open method of how we ended up at the score a game receives. The exact categories and how the overall score is calculated from these is still being debated.

The first game to use the new system will be GTA IV. GTA IV has been in our hands for approaching four weeks now and so we feel enough time has been invested to be able to form a reasoned opinion on the game now all the pre-release hype has died down. Look out for our review, due to appear in the next week or so.

We also have a review of Race Driver: Grid on the way soon allowing us to try out our new scoring system for the 2nd time. Codemasters have kindly invited us to a community day for the game, due to take place this Friday. It’s basically a chance for the small non-commercial sites such as ourselves to get a chance to play the game early. Were not too sure what to expect having never been to an event of this type before, but were sure it’s going to be a fun day regardless. A preview of the game will be posted from the time spent playing from the day, with a full review to come later once we have had time to give it a thorough going over. We also hope to provide some coverage of the day itself.

Finally the first episode of the all new Sam and Dave show is being prepared and should be coming to a set of speakers and earphones near you soon. The show replaces the ButtonBandits.com podcast and will be more of a entertainment style as opposed to just discussing the latest gaming news. No date has been set for the launch of the first episode but we will let you know a few days before so you can prepare for the fun.
