Despite reports today (and a similar story on this site recently) it seems the Gun Metal PlayStation 3 could be making it’s way to the UK after all. Play.com have listed the Gun Metal special edition of the PlayStation 3 for pre-order. Priced at £329.99 and listed as a Play.com exclusive with a release date of 12/06/2008. The console is a genuine PAL version as the technical spec is listed as “PAL: Will play on UK and European Playstation3 only”. The package comes with a 40gb Hard Drive and a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4. It’s not yet clear if the deal includes a DualShock 3 controller like the package on offer in other regions, or if we still have to make do with the SixAxis. ButtonBandits have contacted the head honcho at Play.com’s games department for comment and await further news on the confirmation (or not) of the offering as well as clarification on the SixAxis/DualShock 3 issue if confirmed.
In the mean time head on over to Play.com and get your pre-order in early if your desperate to get one.
I had a sudden thought that this could be Play.com getting confused with the standard hardware/software bundle recently announced by sony that is a standard black 40gb console and Sixaxis controllers. Awaiting clarification….
