• manhunt2.jpg The news has already been covered everywhere in no time at all. The Video Appeals Committee (VAG) has again ruled 4-3 that Manhunt 2 should get a UK release. All this whole saga will have succeeded in doing is giving the game acres of publicity leading it to end up in the hands of far more people than it would have done had they just let it go through in the first place. The game is supposed to be very average but will now probably be a sales smash. Once the news hits mainstream tv expect Keith Vaz MP to come out with some comments on what he thinks of the matter. While a victory for freedom of expression and creativity in videogames in the short term, the problem could be what happens next. The Government will have to be seen to be acting to control violence in videogames and the whole thing may end up being used as a scapegoat as justification as to why tighter restrictions are needed when the forthcoming Byron review concludes.
