Alas, the internet is awash yet again with Shenmue 3 rumours, this time sparked by rumours that Sega may make a return to the home console hardware market. Sega’s dreamcast.com website sparked up the rumours by listing a Dreamcast questionnaire. Some enthusiasts took this as a hint that Sega may be collecting research in attempt to engineer the Dreamcast 2. As posts start trading on forums, one thing led to another and we’re back to the most-wanted-game-that-will-never-be-made: Shenmue 3.
Here’s how I predict it going though: Sega will make Shenmue fans wait forever until we just about start to accept that it will never happen. One year at a TGS, Sega will use the opportunity to announce they’re working on a secret project, a project that will finally conclude a saga in one of it’s popular game franchises. This will generate much excitement and of course gain huge amounts of publicity. The year after that, E3’s organizers will decide to make E3 great again and this is where and when Sega will announce Shenmue 3. It’ll be a long time in development (I’m talking Duke Nukem: Forever time length) just to make fans want it so much more. Finally when it’s released in the year 2020, it’ll be the fastest selling game of all time and break all records. The actual game will probably be so-so though.
Alternatively none of this will happen…..
